About ARPA New South WalesARPA NSW, the New South Wales branch of the Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association (ARPA), is an industry body established to represent the interests of the Workplace Rehabilitation (WR) businesses in NSW. The Association was incorporated in New South Wales in March 1986 and became part of ARPA National in 2005. ARPA NSW works closelywith ARPA National. ARPA NSW members are Workplace Rehabilitation Providers who are accredited with WorkCover NSW, and with other compensation schemes including Comcare and the Motor Accident Authority and deliver a broad range of services within the disability management arena. Workplace Rehabilitation Providers are experts in return to work following injury or illness and have specialist skills in assessment, case management, clinical intervention, problem solving, communication and negotiation. Early, safe and sustainable return to work is achieved by assessing function, establishing appropriate return to work goals, and identifying and addressing, barriers to return to work. ARPA NSW has commissioned research into International Best Practice and has accumulated a body of knowledge and experience that allows for the provision of workplace rehabilitation based on evidence and best practice principles. ARPA NSW subscribes to a Disability Management approach which focuses on maintaining or restoring the employer/employee relationship to achieve sustainable employment outcomes. ARPA NSW liaises regularly with WorkCover NSW, Claims Agents, Employer Organisations, Unions NSW and Divisions of General Practice to advise regarding appropriate strategies and initiatives to achieve safe, early and sustainable return to work for injured workers. ARPA NSW is committed to being flexible and proactive to accommodate the ever changing environment and ensure timely response to all relevant issues for its members. ARPA NSW has established strong alliances within the disability management industry and strengthening these relationships continues to be a primary role. ARPA NSW members are provided with current and relevant information through newsletters, general meetings and regular presentations from pertinent bodies.
